Biological Perspective
Theorist: Hans Eysneck
Focus: This perspective of personality focuses on the idea that personalities develop as a result of biology and that there are biological traits. Eysneck focused on three areas of a personality: intovert or extrovert, neuroticism, and psychotocism. He also discusses how children have temperments and those temperments can predict perahps how they will behave as adults. I believe this theory makes an interesting argument for the nature versus nature theory discussion. Yhis theory studies the brain and not someone's actions or cognitions but explains a biological reason for actions and personality.
Strengths of theory: A strength of this theory is it tries to go to a biological approac which cannot be influenced but rather explains people are how they are.
Weakness of theory: Someone's personality is conplex and I am not a fan that this theory does not take into account experience as heavily as other theories.
Personal example: Extroverts are outgoing and introverts tend to be quieter and like their alone time. I believe I am a combination of the two. I enjoy being around others but I need to have planned time alone to rejuvenate my energy to be social around others.
